Affordable 10Hz GPS?

I've seen a couple of threads, one is quite old and the other one is in finnish of which I don't understand a word.

Are there any affordable real 10Hz GPS units around today (which should work well with RaceChrono), or are we still limited to BlackLine and similar which are very pricey?

Comments

  • For my knowledge there are still no affordable Bluetooth GPS receivers that would do real 10 Hz (real meaning not interpolated). Recently I was contacted by one manufacturer who planned to do one, so there is some hope to have one.
  • Sounds promising at least, keep us posted :-)

Btw, I decided 20 Euros was something I could definitely part with for such a nice product as Race Chrono (especially with such great support). Unfortunately PayPal is taking ages to confirm my identity so I can't do anything at all yet... annoying.
  • What about this gps unit? http://www.skytraq.com.tw/download/Venus_CeBIT5.pdf
It's cheap enough, but you have to pair it with a BT transmistter to make it work with a phone. I cant tell if it's true 10Hz or interpolated...
  • Opt123: Can you point me to a GPS receiver that has this chipset?
  • I find this on SkyTraq Venus6 chipset

is not very serious at first sight ... this seems interpolated, but not very clear!
  • Yep, that test does not look too promising. I'd like to see some more tests with the newer firmware.
  • About SkyTraq and Venus6 chipset. I got a reply by mail from a French retailer, is interpolated 10Hz!
  • I ordered a QStarz BT-Q818XT which claims to have 10Hz refresh rate. The retail price from the shop I ordered it was 149 euros. Hope this helps.
