Charge air cooler temperature (CACT)

I can't seem to find "Charge air cooler temperature (CACT)" which has ID 77 in Racechrono's standard list of OBD2 data? Torque Pro shows this temp correctly and I thought it would be very interesting to log this.

  • @MagnusThome I think that is one of the later additions to the standard(?). It's listed here too but I have no idea what the formula is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OBD-II_PIDs

Can you find the specs for it? It can be added as custom PID, but I'd certainly would want to add it as standard channel too.
  • I'm in the car right now trying a formula ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  • I can only run either RC or Torque at anyone time so I jumped between them to see how the data correlated, so this is the timeline (some uneven times between jumping back and forth though):

    03 58 5A 00 00

    49 degrees

    03 5A 5B 00 00
    03 5E 5F 00 00
    55 degrees
    03 5F 5F 00 00
    03 5F 60 00 00
    56 degrees
    57 degrees
    03 61 62 00 00

    Any ideas?

  • Googling.... Seems 77 can hold two sensors. So the second and third byte would be one of them and the fourth and fifth byte could possibly be another one on some cars. Trying to find how the first byte is used.
  • Hmmm.... I think it might be even simpler, maybe four sensors, makes sense since the two bytes seem to be showing semi similar values? Found this text:

$77 Charge air cooler temperature (CACT)
    Bank 1 - 2: Sensor 1 - 2
  • Yes, it looks like it has two sensors. t1 = B-40, t2 = C-40
  • Wonder how Torque shows this as one value. Mean value of the two maybe. Or just picks the first...
  • Or choose the highest of them could be one way
  • Soooo, problem solved, thanks! Great software this ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ‘
